Helpful Water Damage Tips

Nobody wants to think about having a water damage to deal with when coming home from work, vacation or any daily activity.  Here are a few tips to follow if you arrive at home and find unexpected water in your home:

1. Turn off circuit breakers for wet areas of the building when access to the power distribution panel is safe from electrical shock.
2. Shut off the water to the source, or call a professional to stop the water source.
3. Remove as much excess water as possible by mopping and blotting.
4. Protect wood furniture by placing aluminum foil or wood blocks under legs.
5. Do not enter affected ares if electrical outlets, switches, circuit breakers, or electrical equipment are exposed to water.
6. Do not use your household vacuum cleaner to remove water.
